"Live the Dream
That's Been Living in Your Heart"
Annette Heck, Entrapanuer and Devoted Mother
I was raised on a farm where we grew corn and soybeans. My life was all about playing in the barns, climbing trees onto the barn roof and burn our bare feet as we ate gobs of mulberries from the trees. I learned to cook and sew from my grandmother, and I learned about commitment from my mother.I grew up and married a wonderful man who farmed for a living, surprise! I had a friend with a special child who, when I came to visit would say to his mom “the farmers wife is here”, it always made me laugh.I was living my dream life, married, living and working on the farm and we had three wonderful kids. My life was busy and full with driving the school bus, homeschooling, keeping everyone fed, and being the soccer mom.My life came to a screeching halt on May 20, 2004. My husband was diagnosed with cancer, and would pass on in only 5 short months. Our live's, Bob's, mine, and the kid's felt over as we knew it. More about that later.I was to be sorely tested, but God was and is always with me. When the dust finally settled, I was facing 3 hurting kids, no equipment to work with, and not much income. What to do? I did the only thing I could do, I pulled myself up by my farm girl boots, put my faith in my savior, and charged forward. After all - I take after my grandmother, who was very tough.I started a corn maze in 2008, and did that for 4 years. In 2009 I was visiting an orchard, seen a small haunted house... the thought “I can do that”. I have been blessed with many people who have helped me along the way. I am thankful to them each and every day. Many friends helped to get this Heck of a Haunted Barn up and running, which morphed into a much bigger endeavor than I ever imagined. This year I am adding a country store with homemade foods, soaps, vintage ware, kids play barns, and whatever else I might get my self into.I also recently just got my real estate license this year, so I am learning this new business too. These efforts are not to bring sadness, but more about me creating that new, different, AMAZING life. My chapter two.I have many passions, farm life, flower gardens, antiques, historic spinning, sewing, canning, green living, and always having a good book at my fingertips.
